ALU-BENCH by the Meter

A wide, wing-shaped, aluminium-profile, in any chosen length, serves both as load-bearing beam and seat.

On the profile one can slide the necessary number of legs, without using any tools.

The more weight is applied, the more the legs will lock and add stability to the bench.

The asymmetrical and “random” positions of the legs, in addition to the “eagle-like” silhouette of the profile, gives the character of the furniture.

A groove through the longitudinal centerline of the profile serves  as mounting for a simple, movable cushion, an additional arm-rest or other “extra-equipment”. When used in-doors. When the bench is used out-doors, the groove will lead away the rain-water.

Applications could be many: lounges, company-foyers, air-ports, assembly-rooms. museums, parks, railway-stations…

The ALU-BENCH, designed in 2004, was an inspiration-source for some of Troels Grum-Schwensen´s later table-designs, among them PONTO, the prize-winning GRIP-table (designed 2007 – 2011, manufactured by Randers+Radius) and the – also prize-winning - ATTACH table-building-system, manufactured by Lammhults.
