SYMPHONY is a coherent table-series with several possibilities.
Basically, it consists of two table-legs, in the same form-language: A low and sleek one for coffee-tables and a taller and bolder one for dining-tables, extending-tables, conference-tables etc.
The construction without aprons beneath the table-tops, makes it easy to produce tables in a variety of shapes and sizes.
A main-approach for the design-process was to create a series of tables that would work well in combination with the beautiful and classical chairs from professor Ole Wancher – also made by P.J. furniture at the time – but that would also possess a modern character of its own. At the same time both classical and modern.
This was achieved by a combination of calm, vertical and cylindrical legs and the significant cone-shaped ending – in an elegant manner held free of the hoovering table-top.
The form-language of the tables makes them suited for addition, as two tables meets nicely, when the leg-detail is mirrored.
As a supplement to the dining-tables, I later designed the dining-chair; MENUET.
